Recognising the ongoing efforts of Account Manager Dean Patty and his team, Aviso Specialty is proud to support Very Special Kids with a £5,000 Community Grant awarded by the Ardonagh Community Trust (ACT).
Dean’s connection to Very Special Kids is deeply personal and has driven his continued support of the organisation.

A cause close to our heart

Dean and his family were supported by Very Special Kids following their daughter Allegra’s diagnosis with Dravet Syndrome, a severe form of epilepsy.

During this challenging time, Very Special Kids provided essential respite care, counselling, and support services for Dean, his wife, and their son.

“My son’s childhood was non-standard, and he missed out because managing Allegra’s condition meant that there were many things we couldn’t do that ‘normal’ families would,”

Dean Patty

How Very Special Kids help

Parents caring for children with Life-Limiting Conditions are often exhausted from the demands of 24-hour, seven-day-a-week care. Many require support with every aspect of daily life - from feeding and hygiene to administering medication, managing treatment plans and attending ongoing medical appointments. Very Special Kids also ensures that families like ours have access to the kinds of experiences that many others take for granted - experiences we too often miss because of the demands of caring for a child with a life‑limiting condition.

Very Special Kids supports more than 700 families, providing over 1,400 bed nights of respite care and specialist hospice services for children and their families.

Enabling continued care, supported by the Ardonagh Community Trust

With the cost of care reaching approximately $1,250 per night, the £5,000 Community Grant funding will help Very Special Kids continue delivering vital care and support to children and young people facing serious illness, and the families who care for them.

Today, Dean and his family continue to support Very Special Kids through fundraising, advocacy and community involvement, helping ensure other families receive the same level of care and support.

Aviso Specialty is backed by Envest, the Australian subsidiary of UK-headquartered global parent company The Ardonagh Group.
